POSITION: Airtek Environmental - Asbestos Investigator 

 

Summary:

The Asbestos Investigator will perform asbestos investigations and/or prepare asbestos inspections reports along with other environmental related duties as needed. This is full-time, onsite position reporting to the office in Long Island City, NY.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:    

  • Perform asbestos investigations in NYC
  • Prepare asbestos inspection reports
  • Review construction drawings and scope of work
  • Survey and sample suspect asbestos containing materials within the NYC metro area buildings
  • Submit bulk samples to Airtek lab
  • Prepare reports on each investigation including ACP-5 Forms if applicable
  • Recordkeeping of required documents to comply with NYC DEP regulations.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft office specifically Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat

  

Education & Experience:

  • NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator
  • NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector
  • Valid NYS DOL and/ or NYC DEP Certifications

  

Physical Requirement:

  • Move about indoors and outdoors to conduct inspections (regularly)
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairwells (regularly)
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders (occasionally)
  • Transport objects weighing up to or exceeding 25 pounds. (regularly)
  • Ability to safely operate a hammer and a chisel. (regularly)
  • Ability to operate a laptop/computer, phone, other office productivity machinery (calculator, printer, etc.), and measuring devices. (regularly)
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to manipulate field equipment and collect samples, using fingers in repetitive motion for keyboarding and writing. (regularly)
  • Handle paperwork and files (regularly)
