Summary
McLarens is searching for an Adjuster Trainee to work in a designated region. The Adjuster Trainee role is intended to provide the foundation for a career in claims management with the ability to travel as needed. The Adjuster Trainee will participate in company training to learn the policies, practices, and procedures related to claims management. Initially, the primary focus of the role will be to support senior level adjusters in day-to-day claim file administration. The practical experience and understanding of the processes and techniques for the investigation and management of claims will be developed by shadowing senior level adjusters who will act as a direct mentor both in relation to the role and future progress towards professional qualification.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review new losses with senior level adjusters.
- Coordinate meetings for the senior level adjusters with the insurer and broker to arrange appointments for the first meeting.
- Manage multiple cases and document the steps of activity for each claim.
- Assist senior level adjusters on-site with the insured to investigate the cause, circumstances, and extent of damage.
- Review insured policy coverages.
- Research claims responses to assist senior level adjusters when responding to insurer questions.
- Assist senior level adjusters with preparing timely reports for clients.
- Coordinate the scope of damage and costs schedule for senior level adjusters.
- Coordinate the senior level adjusters reports for the insured.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 0-2 years of claims adjusting support or relevant experience.
- 4-year college degree preferred.
- Complete the Adjuster training program within 12-18 months and obtain the appropriate state Adjuster license.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritize.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Travel to inspection sites. (regularly)
- Move about indoors and outdoors to conduct inspections. (regularly)
- Ability to position self to inspect confined spaces, ascend and descend stairwells and ladders, traverse roofs, and work atop roofs. (frequently)
- Ability to maintain balance while traversing on narrow, slippery, or sloping surfaces. (regularly)
- May exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly while moving objects. (Regularly)
- Transport objects weighing up to or exceeding 50 pounds. (regularly)
- Transport, unfold, and extend OSHA approved ladder which may exceed 50 pounds. (frequently)
- Ability to operate a laptop/computer, phone, other office productivity machinery (calculator, printer, etc.), and measuring devices. (regularly)
- Manual dexterity and coordination to extend hands and arms in various directions, using fingers in repetitive motion for keyboarding and writing. (regularly)
- Handle paperwork and files. (regularly)
